Porcellio scaber “Lottery” are a popular “morph-mix” culture where the look of each isopod can vary—think speckling, mottling, and shifting tones that make every handful feel different. Because it’s a “lottery” mix, exact colors/patterns aren’t guaranteed, but that’s the fun: your colony develops a unique look over time.
They’re also an excellent choice for newer keepers: P. scaber are known for being tough, adaptable, and prolific, and they do great in most standard bioactive setups when given a proper moisture gradient.
Basic care (quick, listing-friendly):
- Setup: soil/substrate with plenty of leaf litter + cork/wood hides
- Moisture: keep a moist side + dry side (avoid keeping the whole bin soggy)
- Food: decaying leaves/wood + occasional veggie/fish food; always provide calcium (cuttlebone/eggshell)
